Q:   What exactly do Casting Directors do?

A:   Casting Directors are Artists who help bring a specific character to life by meticulously selecting the best of the best of talent for Producers and Directors. Casting Directors are the most important department heads on a production. Our job is similar to recruting or human resources but with a twist of creativeness, it is visionary, it is detailed, and it comes with a high amount of stress and pressure. Casting Directors are like painters -- they take ink on paper and bring it to life, literally painting the faces upon a writer's vision. Aside from knowing the strengths and weaknesses of thousands and thousands of actors, both known and unknown, Casting Directors generate lists of ideas, check availabilities, pre-screen talent, help Directors avoid pitfalls and casting mistakes, negotiate with agents and managers, scout talent in remote locations, help prepare, coach and direct actors, etc. And they do all this in a timely manner which helps to speed along the process of hiring talent. A producer who attempts to take this monumental task on himself, will need ten times the amount of time to accomplish what an established CD can do in 8 weeks time
Di Haman aka "The Casting Goddess" and UPM.

I am a successful seasoned business woman of 20 years. I have been in the industry for close to 20 years. I bring the best of the best to Producers and Directors for film, commercials and print in TX and beyond in record time. I work around the clock to satisfy Production. Casting Talented Extras and VOC roles is my passion and the only thing I do is casting other than UPM assignments and Managing my daughter MIAHNNA'S acting and modeling career. I do not have a day job that would intefer with my casting ability should I become your employee. I take on ONLY one casting assignment at a time and consentrate only on that assignment. I give Production my full personal attention from beginning to completion and make myself available 24/7 if need be.
